Strategic immersion in nursing and the operating theatre: a key module of the Entrepreneur du futur programme
As part of the Entrepreneur du futur programme, a strategic module was recently held at the Privatklinik Bethanien in Zurich. Focusing on nursing, the operating theatre and quality, this module aimed to embed leadership skills directly linked to the realities of the workplace.
Designed by Drissia El Archi, Director of Healthcare Projects at Swiss Medical Network, the module offered a relevant combination of theory and practice. The aim was to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of healthcare processes and the challenges associated with quality and organisation.
A hands-on immersion for a comprehensive view of healthcare management
During this module, participants:
- Immersed themselves in the work of healthcare managers and nursing executives.
- Exchanged ideas with operating theatre managers.
- Analysed patient flows, organisational structures and safety measures.
These direct encounters provided a better understanding of the complexity of healthcare professions and the coordination required for efficient and humane care.
Expert contributions to quality
Daniela Franco provided targeted expertise on operating theatre efficiency and key performance indicators, which are essential for strategic management and continuous improvement. Esther Lanz's support and insightful contributions greatly enhanced the quality of the discussions.
Key lessons from the module
- Quality assurance in healthcare and operating theatres
- Interprofessional collaboration for the benefit of patients
- Communication and managerial attitude in the face of complexity
- Participatory leadership: setting an example, listening and taking responsibility
- Team well-being as a key factor in sustainable performance
- Strategic resource management and operating theatre efficiency
A conviction at the heart of the programme
This module confirms a shared belief: to lead effectively, it is not enough to know the flows and processes, you have to go out and meet the people who experience them on a daily basis, understand their challenges and draw inspiration from their expertise.
Swiss Medical Network is thus continuing its commitment to enlightened leadership based on listening, quality and collective intelligence – essential pillars for meeting the current and future challenges of the healthcare system.
