Ticino Welcome - Fewer hospitals, higher quality

With the opening of the Centromedico Bellinzona Castello, Swiss Medical Network is bringing an outpatient care model to the Sopraceneri region that addresses the most pressing challenges facing the Swiss healthcare system: containing insurance premiums, improving resource allocation, and providing community-based care.

A new medical center in an ancient city Just a short walk from Bellinzona’s UNESCO-listed castles, the Centromedico Bellinzona Castello has opened in a fully renovated building spanning approximately 2,500 square meters, which opened in 2025. It is a multidisciplinary healthcare facility that brings together orthopedic, ophthalmological, radiological, and physical therapy expertise under one roof.

The Center is part of the Swiss Medical Network, one of Switzerland’s two largest private hospital groups, with 21 hospitals and clinics across 16 cantons. The facility houses Ars Medica Bellinzona, the outpatient branch of the Ars Medica Clinic in Gravesano, specializing in orthopedics and outpatient orthopedic surgery.

The ground floor features two operating rooms dedicated exclusively to outpatient procedures, the first of their kind in the Sopraceneri region. The second floor houses specialist medical offices and a radiology institute, while the third floor features a physical therapy center with a view of the castles. It shares the space with Swiss Visio Bellinzona, the group’s first Ticino location within its ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery network, which offers medical and surgical treatments for all eye conditions, including laser refractive surgery.
