Physiotherapy | Schmerzklinik Basel

Physiotherapy centre

At the the physiotherapy centre of Schmerzklinik Basel, we improve your body's mobility and functionality through targeted training and proven physical healing methods, such as ultrasound, massage and heat therapy. Our goal is to alleviate your pain, enhance your independence in daily life, and boost your overall quality of life in the long term.

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a non-invasive treatment used to improve or restore physical movement and functionality. It involves specific training and the external application of therapeutic methods, such as ultrasound, massage and heat packs.

Physiotherapists are experts in physical dysfunctions and pain. As an independent discipline of orthodox medicine, we form part of primary care. Supporting the patient's autonomy, guiding them on the path to better health or promoting the maintenance of their state of health are parts of everyday life in physiotherapy. The aim is to improve the patient's quality of life. To this end, physiotherapists improve physical functional abilities (e.g.: standing up, walking, climbing stairs, running), mobilise stiff joints and relieve pain.

Treatment procedure

Before each treatment begins, a detailed physiotherapeutic examination is carried out by the therapist. The treatment is then adapted to the patient's individual circumstances, with the aims of:

  • Understanding the functioning of the body and improved perception of resources but also of sources of error (e.g. incorrect posture, incorrect loads, poor training).
  • Triggering a healing, natural reaction of the organism (e.g. muscle development, motor learning, stimulation of the metabolism)
  • Promotingself-responsible handling of one's own body

We treat these types of illness

In principle, any disease of the human musculoskeletal system can be improved physiotherapeutically. At our physiotherapy centre, we take a personalised and professional approach to your situation. Our aim is to improve or restore your mobility and ability to perform everyday tasks.

Injuries and rehabilitation

Whether due to an accident, after an operation or because of a sports injury: physical therapy can specifically support the healing of tendons, ligaments, bones and the musculature. Thanks to the help of physiotherapists, normal functionality of the musculoskeletal system can usually be restored.

Back and neck complaints

Many people suffer from tension in the back and neck area and it is not uncommon for this to be followed by tension headaches. Physiotherapeutic measures can treat these complaints in a targeted manner and contribute to long-term relief. In addition, lumbago or slipped discs can also be successfully treated acutely. Advice on ergonomics at the workplace is also often useful.

Ailments in senior citizens

Physiotherapists specialise in helping sufferers of osteoarthritis, rheumatic diseases, dizziness, tinnitus and gait problems. It is not uncommon for falls to be avoided and mobility to be significantly improved.

Pregnancy and child

Physiotherapy helps with numerous complaints related to pregnancy: back problems, groin pain, birth preparation, postnatal exercises, pelvic floor training. The development of the child can also be specifically improved if posture or other developmental problems of the musculoskeletal system are present.

Burnout and stress

Many people are exposed to complex stresses in everyday life, which often manifest themselves in the form of tension, pain and psychosomatic complaints. In addition to psychological measures, physiotherapy can often be a valuable supplement here. Stress reduction through targeted training, massages and relaxation training has been scientifically well proven.

SensoPro

Among other things, medical training therapy at the Schmerzklinik Basel includes training on the SensoPro, a training device from a Swiss start-up company. The device combines the training of balance, endurance and musculature and focuses on having fun while training and enjoying the movement.
